The history of Château Suduiraut, in Sauternes, goes back centuries. After the total destruction of the property by the Duke d’Epernon in the 1600’s, Count Blaise de Suduiraut replanted the vineyard and restored the estate to its former glory. The Château is a superb example of 18th century architecture. Aristocratic, classical, and bright in style, the Château is surrounded by charming gardens designed by Le Nôtre. The quality of this First Classed Growth is the result of the unflagging attention devoted to its crafting. Extremely low yields foster the concentration of sugars. Each vat is stringently selected.
Vinification: Selective hand harvest by successive pickings is followed by 2-3 weeks of fermentation in temperature controlled vats. The wine is then aged for 12 months in 2 year old oak barrels with racking every 3 months.
Tasting Note: A beautifully balanced sweet wine with luscious fruit and a lively balancing freshness.
Every day serving suggestion: Chilled with Foie Gras and blue cheese.
