Pierre Naigeon, who inherited this 120-year old estate in the
mid-nineties, believes passionately in sustainable farming,
without the use of any herbicide. He looks to produce wines
full of fragrance, revealing the natural terroir. The average
age of his vines is remarkably high, mostly
over 50 years. This ensures deep roots, nourishing the vines
from many different lays of soil, to produce the most complex
wines, and reduces the natural level of cropping, providing more concentrated wines.
Viticulture: The grapes come from two plots located on the upper
slopes in the northern part of Bonnes Mares adjoining the village
of Chambolle Musigny. The vines are Guyot trained.
Organic fertilizers are used but the vines are never treated with herbicides.
Vinification: Made from 60 year old vines. Hand harvest and quality selective picking in the vineyard.
Cold maceration for one week then fermentation for 20 to 30 days. Ageing from 12 to 18 months in oak (100% new)
Tasting Note: A powerful combination of sweet Pinot fruit with oak complemented by chunky tannins.
serving suggestion: Game and roast meats, fine cheeses.
Blend Pinot Noir 100%
