Andrew Quady’s change of career from making fireworks to making wine produced an explosion of its own kind when he created Essensia from the Orange Muscat grape. It was an instant success and until 1985 he could not make enough to satisfy demand. Following the success of Essensia, Andy’s next creation was Elysium from the Black Muscat grape. Quady is now the foremost American winery specialising entirely in dessert wines and continues to win medals worldwide. Deviation is a mixture of leaves from the plant, Rose Scented Geranium, Orange Muscat and the herb Damiana which is an ingredient in teas noted for stimulating aphrodisiac effects!

Vinification: Fermentation was arrested with neutral grape brandy. This arrested fermentation preserves the delicate aroma of the fresh, ripe grapes. Herbs (Damiana and scented Geranium) are added to the Orange Muscat base wine and extracted as a cold infusion.

Tasting Note: An aroma of honeysuckle and white pepper with a distinctive herbal flavour.A great dessert wine, with a difference.

Every day serving suggestion: Chilled in small glasses and is excellent when paired with desserts and chocolate.
